GBN vs Oak Park/River Forest

Right from the opening face off the game was physical.  With just 3:00 minutes into the game OPRF draws interference.  GBN wing Justin Ho takes the puck at center ice and skates by two defenders and drills a shot upper right corner for the first goal.   Hard hitting in the first period with end to end action set the pace of the game.  On a 3-2 break  Mason Peifer takes the puck into the zone and finds Colt Chobak who buries a wrist shot from the point. 2-0 GBN.

2nd period

Defenseman Henry Fitzgerald makes a good hustle play to defend a 1-0 breakaway scoring chance on GBN goaltender Brennan Nein but is called for holding.  The call was challenged by the GBN coaches.    GBN and OPRF exchange heavy hits and 5 penalties but 2nd period ends that ends with no scoring.

3rd period

GBN dominates play at the opening of the 3rd period.  So much so that GBN keeps the puck in the OPRF zone for over 3 minutes and is able change the entire line in the process to start the period.  GBN cycles the puck and forechecks with precision.  With 8 minutes left in the period, Mason Peifer makes a power move around the net and finds Jacob Crane who feeds Michael Day for the 3rd goal. The hard checking and penalties intensify throughout the period.  Late in the game, OPRF has an odd man rush that turns into a breakaway.  GBN Defenseman, Ethan Gould makes a great play on a break away to save a goal.  GBN and OPRF battle for puck possession and trading penalties. The game was all GBN with 26 shots to OPRF having only 10.  GBN outshoots, outhits OPRF and wins going away 3-0.
