The Wheaton West Pre Season Invitational saw the Spartans go 2-1 in preliminary play but failed to advanced due to goal differentials.

The Spartans played two games Friday defeating Waubonsie 5-2 and Fenwick 5-1.

The Saturday game featured a familiar SHL foe in Stevenson and the Patriots outlasted the Spartans by the score of 4-1.

The game was scoreless midway in the 2nd period when an apparent Spartan go ahead goal was disallowed for a man in the crease violation.

The Patriots then capitalized on a Powerplay, giving them a 1-0 heading into the 3rd period.

The Patriots pushed their lead to 2 when they won a faceoff and scored off a rebound.

GBN Defenseman Ian Burns gave some life to the Spartans as he fired a wrist shot from the point cutting the Stevenson lead to 1 with 9 minutes left.

2 late period Patriots goals iced the game and knocked the Spartans out of the tournament.
