On Saturday night at American Heartland Ice Arena, the Spartans found themselves down 1-3 going into the third period vs an always tough opponent Loyola Gold. With 9:01 left in the period, the Spartans found new life in them with a breakaway goal from Noah Masinter, making the game 2-3. Exactly 7 minutes later Jacob Smith ties up the game on the power play. With just over a minute left the Spartans to go on the power play again and Josh Genin puts them ahead 4-3 with 56 seconds remaining. Loyola's Ryan Cowen answered right back and scored sending the game to OT. After a back-and-forth, OT Michael Dimoff notches his second of the game-winning it for the Spartans in OT. Nate Kasdan was in the net and stopped 30/34 and played great.

Varsity Green will now take on Loyola Gold again this Wednesday night at the Northbrook Sports Center @ 7:20 pm live on the SHL Network. The game is also Northbrook Bluehawks appreciation night.
