Jennifer Lynn Snyder Memorial Game

On Thursday night, August 21, 2008, 17-year old high school student Jenny Snyder died suddenly while playing soccer on a field not far from her home in Northbrook, Illinois.

Jenny was a seemingly healthy, active student at Glenbrook North High School and was participating in a practice for a local club travel team in preparation for her varsity season. Jenny was stricken with an undiagnosed congenital abnormality of her heart for which there currently is no practical preventative screening method.

Jenny was a counselor at Chippewa Ranch Camp in Eagle River Wisconsin, an experienced soccer player, an elected member of the highly acclaimed ‘Peer Group’ of senior students that mentor incoming freshman and most importantly, an overall compassionate and altruistic leader in nearly every aspect of her life.

Please join us at the Sports Center in Northbrook on Saturday, January 17 at 6:05 PM when the Glenbrook North Spartans varsity hockey team plays the Deerfield Warriors. Bracelets, which will allow entry into the game, will be sold by Glenbrook North hockey players for $5.00. They will also be sold the night of the game. Additional donations can be made at the game. All proceeds from the game will be donated to THE JENNIFER LYNN SNYDER LEADERSHIP FUND.

The fund has been established in Jenny’s memory to support, encourage and recognize other young adults who selflessly lead by example and with compassion. The fund will contribute annually to both students and programs at The Chippewa Ranch Camp and Glenbrook North High School.

The fund will also contribute to research currently being conducted looking for ways to reduce the number of heart-related sudden deaths among teenage athletes. Thousands of young athletes die each year in the US from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
