The Varsity team travelled to Jamestown, NY December 2^nd - 5^th to participate in the National Invitational Scholastic Showcase, a tournament featuring top teams from Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida. GBN visited Jamestown the last three years, reaching the semi-finals twice.

This year GBN went 3-0 in preliminary round play, including a 3-2 overtime victory in game one against McDowell (PA). They then beat Peters Township (PA) 3-0 and North Broward Prep (FL) 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals against Hamilton SE (IN), a team they lost to in last year’s tournament. A thrilling 3-2 victory put them in the championship game against Holy Ghost Prep (PA), who beat Fenwick 7-2 in their semi-final.

The combination of injuries before and during the trip, and a very strong opponent, proved to be too much for GBN and they lost 5-0 in the final. Though disappointed, GBN was proud of their performance and is hopeful that their success in the tournament will continue as they enter a very tough stretch of games over the next few weeks.
